Paris Fashion Week Unveils Partners, Content for Online Shows

Paris Fashion Week will venture online next week aided by a host of tech and media partners, including Launchmetrics, YouTube and Instagram, WWD has learned.

The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, French fashion’s organizing body, said it conscripted Launchmetrics, a data and technology company, to build digital platforms for the upcoming couture and men’s weeks.

Both sites will feature spaces reserved for professionals, but are accessible to the general public in order to capture a wide audience.

The platforms are headlined by official calendars, where videos will be unveiled at scheduled times and can be viewed again following their initial broadcast.

Editorial content, in cooperation with fashion school Institut Français de la Mode, will assemble interviews, making-of clips and Zoom gatherings supplied by participating brands and designers, cultural institutions, media firms and others.

The U.S. stock market gained on Jul 2 as investor optimism about market recovery from the COVID-19 crisis got a boost after the U.S. Labor Department reported an unexpected drop in unemployment rate. According to the latest data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate fell to 11.1% in June from 13.3% in May.

The U.S. economy added 4.8 million jobs in June, marking the second consecutive month of gains following more than 20 million of job losses recorded in April due to the pandemic. San Sebastian Embraces Cannes Official Selection Titles

Spain’s San Sebastian Festival, the highest-profile movie event in the Spanish-speaking world, has delivered on director José Luis Rebordinos’ promise of considering Cannes Official Selection titles for selection, slating five Cannes label titles in its own main competition, the Festival announced Friday.

These include two of the biggest sales attractions at last week’s Cannes Marché du Film Online: François Ozon’s “Summer of 85” and Thomas Vinterberg’s “Another Round.” They also take in two other titles included in what Cannes head Thierry Fremaux called The Faithful in his lineup of film which would have screwed at Cannes, had the festival taken place: Naomi Kawase’s “True Mothers” and Sharunas Bartas “In the Dusk.”

A Bollywood actor’s face tattooed on his arm, Sandeep Bacche’s devotion shocks few in India where stars enjoy semi-divine status. But even here the hallowed silver screen may be losing its shine to streaming services and pandemic fears.

“Whenever things get better and theatres begin operations, I will watch three movies a day for sure just as a way to celebrate,” said the Mumbai rickshaw driver, who is recovering from the virus himself.

But others may not join the party.
